Birthday Surprise :)

i know i am late in posting yet again. so many things had happened.. do not panic!!!! they are good things and also the lousiest excuse ever which is i am busy watching k-drama :)

this post will be dedicated to my dearest friends in London who had made tremendous effort to prepare a surprise birthday party for me :)

Please do not mind the long story. i wanna note down every single detail of the best surprise ever for this 25 years that i had lived.

the story goes like this:

Friend 'A' had purchased Foie Gras from Paris and organized a house party where we shall cook it together at Friend P's house on Saturday (16 Jul). The original plan was to meet at Tesco near P's house at around 3pm. As days were nearing, i was told by P that they will be meeting directly at her house at 6.30pm instead which i was puzzled and kept asking why since we need ingredients to cook the Foie Gras. hahaha and P replied to me that she have stuff to settle during the day (after the surprise, she told me that i was making things difficult for her by questioning her the change in time. lol..sorry P)

The night before, i told P that i will be going Tesco before going to her house as i will be buying beer over to her place. But it rained on that day so i decided to just buy it from the shop below my flat =x thanks to the fickle-minded me, they had gone through the trouble of buying grocery from Asda (one of the big supermarket in UK) instead of Tesco (that they originally planned to go to which is nearer to P's house).

Friend 'N' played the role of an internal spy who was being sent by P to track my location and what i was up to (they planned to get N to meet me at Tesco and travel to P's house together). However, the 'irritating' me (i didnt do it on purpose~~ i swear!!!!) asked her to contact the others and meet them instead. hahahaha... i am such a spoiler isnt it. =x

another annoying action on my part was that when i was reaching P's house, a black man (electricity man) was at the door and as i entered (there's a stairway to the house and still with my ear piece on) i shouted 'anyohaseyo~~~' and all of them freaked out!!! hahahaa...since i had to climb the stair and i cant hear anything, the commotion due to my sudden entrance was neither visible nor audible to me. the funny thing is, they were all prepared (with the cakes and candles) in thought that the electricity man who had rung the door bell was me. haha but i was right behind him (maybe 5mins later, so the preparation was considered to be done at the right time. keke..) and all of the other friends hid in P's room with the cakes, even their shoes were kept in the room. haha how thoughtful. then i was being asked by P to help her with this and that and suddenly all of the other friends popped out singing Birthday song for me! hahaha yup that's the surprise. i am totally clueless. which is so unlike me. usually i will sense something fishy going on.

I was also told that this was planned for a few days. Thanks everyone :)))))))))

Photo time~~~ had an awesome time..really really reallly.... =))))))

  1. Hi Pam,

I just stumbled across your blog and it's amazing how far you've come since you started out at LCB. I'm a Singaporean too and have just started the basic patisserie course at LCB London.

When I read about your initial phase in school, it reminds me so much of myself now. I worry about the exams and getting past basic, I get frustrated because I feel as though I don't have the same level of skills or knowledge as my classmates (who are awesome by the way!) and I constantly find myself making silly mistakes during practicals - which help me learn but still... Lol.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi and also, a Happy Birthday to you! =) I hope you continue to blog about your experiences here in the UK and at school. It's really encouraging and inspiring!

  3. Hello Natalie,

welcome to the LCB world. lol it's awesome isn't it?

haha yea the same frustration as i had when i was in basic. the feeling is ridiculously horrible (haha exaggerate a bit) and you always feel that u are never good enough. for me, the trick to it is to learn to let go and loosen up, things will be better and smoother in the kitchen. though i am still not good (to be honest, i am still one of the lousiest in class :( sigh...) however, i know i had improved quite a lot since i started. so it's all good :) i am still trying hard to catch up and my determination is not failing me. keke...

anw Thanks for reading my blog. i never thought anyone else will be reading it apart from my family and friends let alone it being an inspiration to anyone. It is really nice to hear from you and encouraging too :)

btw it was nice meeting you (surprising too when u mentioned about my blog haha) see ya around in school~
